Receiving Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior is the most important decision you will ever make in your life. We have listed some simple steps to assist you with your new life seeking to follow Jesus.
1. You are saved by faith – Your salvation is based purely upon your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. In other words, salvation is not something that can be “earned” by how good you try to be or some religious act that you perform. Salvation is a free and gracious gift from God, and came as you simply repented and put your faith in Jesus’ death and resurrection, trusting Him to forgive your sins and become your Savior and Lord. The scripture says “For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is a gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9).
2. You may experience doubts – One of the most common things that happens to a new believer is that the devil tries to whisper doubts into your thoughts: “You’re not really saved,” or “Nothing really happened to you.” But don’t buy into Satan’s lies and deceptions! If you placed your faith in Jesus Christ alone, then you are saved, regardless of whether you feel it or not. God’s Word promises, “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God hath raised him from the dead, you are saved” (Romans 10:9).
3. You are forgiven of all your sins – When you repented (turned away) from your sins, and asked Jesus to forgive you and become your Savior, that’s exactly what He did. He forgave every sin you’ve ever committed, regardless how awful or evil your sins may have been.
4. What if you sin again? – Although you are now saved, you still live in an earthly body. The Bible tells us when we are tempted to sin to “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (James 4:7). However, if you sin and fail God, the Bible tells us “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). Confess to God and He has promised to forgive you of every sin. And God the Holy Spirit dwells in you to give you the power to say no to sin and yes to righteousness (Galatians 5:16-18).
5. You have the promise of eternal life – God’s Word says that when you place your faith in Christ, you are given eternal life. That is, when you die or Jesus returns, your soul will go to be in the Lord’s presence to spend eternity with Him! “For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only begotten Son, that whoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). This means that you never have to worry about going to Hell!
6. You get to gather with the church – You should begin attending a Bible preaching church regularly to strengthen your faith by the teaching and preaching of God’s Word, and so you can grow spiritually.
7. Make friends with some Christians at church – Christian friends will help you grow and will be less likely to lead you into temptations as friends you might have hung around with before you were saved may do.
8. You get to pray every day – Prayer is vital to your spiritual growth. God is your Heavenly Father, and He wants to hear from you and have daily fellowship with you. You don’t have to sound super-spiritual when you pray, just talk to God and He will listen.
9. Read your Bible every day – The Bible is God’s Word, and as you read from it every day, it will cause you to grow spiritually (2 Timothy 2:15). As you study His written word start with the Gospel of John and the first 11 chapters of Genesis. Reading your Bible is one of the ways that God will speak to you.
10. Never be ashamed to say you are a Christian – For the scripture saith, “Whosoever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed” (Romans 10:11)
11. You need to be baptized – At your first opportunity, you should obey the Lord’s command to be baptized by water just as Jesus was in Matthew Chapter 3, as a confession of your repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. Water baptism in itself does not save you or wash away your sins, but it is an act of your obedience to God. It symbolically shows that you have died to the old sinful life, and have risen in the newness of the Life of Christ.
12. Now tell others about Him – Jesus saved you, so share your testimony and others can be saved too!

Pasos simples para el nuevo cristiano:
1. Usted es salvo por la fe – Su salvación se basa puramente en su fe en Jesucristo como su Señor y Salvador. En otras palabras, la salvación no es algo que se pueda "ganar" tratando de ser bueno o por algún acto religioso que realices. La salvación es un regalo gratuito por la gracia de Dios que llego a tu vida cuando te arrepentiste y pusiste tu fe en la muerte y resurrección de Jesús, confiando que El perdona tus pecados y que es tu Salvador y Señor. La Escritura dice: "Porque por gracia sois salvos por medio de la fe; y esto no de vosotros, pues es don de Dios; no por obras, para que nadie se gloríe." (Efesios 2:8-9).
2. Puedes experimentar dudas – Una de las cosas más comunes que le sucede a un nuevo creyente es que el diablo trata de susurrar dudas en tus pensamientos: "Realmente no eres salvo" o "Realmente no te pasó nada". ¡Pero no creas las mentiras y engaños de Satanás! Si usted puso su fe sólo en Jesucristo, entonces usted es salvo, independientemente si sus sentimientos le juegan una mala pasada. La Palabra de Dios promete: "Que, si confesares con tu boca que Jesús es el Señor, y creyeres en tu corazón que Dios le levantó de los muertos, serás salvo " (Romanos 10:9).
3. Eres perdonado de todos tus pecados – Cuando te arrepentiste (te alejaste) de tus pecados, y le pediste a Jesús que te perdonara y se convirtiera en tu Salvador, eso es exactamente lo que hizo, Él perdonó cada pecado que hayas cometido, independientemente de cuán horrible o malvado hayan sido tus pecados.
4. ¿Qué pasa si vuelves a pecar? – Aunque ahora eres salvo, todavía vives en un cuerpo terrenal. La Biblia nos dice que cuando somos tentados a pecar, "Someteos, pues, a Dios; resistid al diablo, y huirá de vosotros" (Santiago 4:7). Sin embargo, si pecas y le fallas a Dios, la Biblia nos dice: "Si confesamos nuestros pecados, él es fiel y justo para perdonar nuestros pecados, y limpiarnos de toda maldad" (1 Juan 1:9). Confiesa a Dios y Él ha prometido perdonarte de todo pecado. Dios el Espíritu Santo mora en ti para darte el poder de decir no al pecado y sí a la justicia (Gálatas 5:16-18).
5. Tienes la promesa de la vida eterna – La Palabra de Dios dice que cuando pones tu fe en Cristo, tienes el regalo de la vida eterna. Es decir, cuando mueras o si Jesús regresa y estas vivo, ¡tu alma irá a estar en la presencia del Señor para pasar la eternidad con Él!
"Porque de tal manera amó Dios al mundo, que ha dado a su Hijo unigénito, para que todo aquel que en él cree, no se pierda, mas tenga vida eterna" (Juan 3:16). ¡Esto significa que nunca tienes que preocuparte por ir al infierno!
6. Puedes reunirte con la iglesia – Debes comenzar a asistir a una iglesia que predique la Biblia para fortalecer tu fe mediante la enseñanza y predicación de la Palabra de Dios, y de esa manera crecerás espiritualmente.
7. Haz amigos cristianos en la iglesia – Los amigos cristianos te ayudarán a crecer y hay pocas probabilidades que te expongan a tentaciones como lo harán los amigos que frecuentabas antes de ser salvo.
8. Puedes orar todos los días – La oración es vital para tu crecimiento espiritual. Dios es tu Padre Celestial, y Él quiere escuchar tus oraciones y tener comunión diaria contigo. Ora con naturalidad, solo habla con Dios y Él te escuchará.
9. Lee tu Biblia todos los días – La Biblia es la Palabra de Dios, y al leerla todos los días, te hará crecer espiritualmente (2 Timoteo 2:15). Al estudiar la Biblia, comienza con el Evangelio de Juan y los primeros 11 capítulos de Génesis. Leer la Biblia es una de las maneras en que Dios te hablará.
10. Nunca te avergüences de decir que eres cristiano – Porque la Escritura dice: "Todo aquel que en él creyere, no será avergonzado" (Romanos 10:11)
11. Necesitas ser bautizado – En tu primera oportunidad, debes obedecer el mandato del Señor de ser bautizado por agua tal como lo fue Jesús en Mateo Capítulo 3, como una confesión de tu arrepentimiento y fe en Jesucristo. El bautismo en agua en sí mismo no te salva ni lava tus pecados, pero es un acto de tu obediencia a Dios. Simbólicamente muestra que has muerto a la vida vieja y pecaminosa, y has resucitado a una vida nueva en Cristo.
12. Ahora cuéntale a los demás acerca de Él: ¡Jesús te salvó, así que comparte tu testimonio para que otros también pueden ser salvos!
